Before we really hit the busiest time of year for buying/selling homes in the Tri-Cities, let's take a quick look back at what happened last year, especially where home prices are concerned.
According to data recently released by the Tri-City Association of REALTORS®, our home prices saw moderate gains over the course of the year.
The average sales price was up 6.3% for the year, while the median price gained 10.2% last year. Here's how it looks in visual form:
At the start of the year, the average and median home prices were $277,400 and $253,000, respectively. By year's end, those numbers had risen to $294,900 and $278,900, respectively.
Both prices hit new highs in the summer. The average sales price in July reached $311,600. A month later, the median price topped out at $292,000. (Quick note: Both of those marks have already been bested in 2019.)
