We've pulled the numbers for our latest Tri-Cities real estate market snapshot, and it's not surprising that activity was generally down in February.
You might think that had something to do the weather, but probably not. Real estate sales activity generally takes 30-45 days from the time an offer is accepted until the sale closes (and sometimes longer than that). So when you see numbers down in February, that's just a reflection of lower activity in December and January and it's pretty common due to people focusing on the holidays.
More on the weather in a bit, but here's the snapshot:
The bad weather we had throughout February didn't really impact that month's closings and transactions, but anecdotally it did seem to slow Tri-Citians down and keep them from seeing houses, attending Open Houses, writing offers, etc. And that's totally expected! So if the February weather is going to impact the Tri-Cities real estate market, it would likely show up in March/April. We'll keep an eye on that for sure.
